Welcome to the SD-WAN Mastery Collection – Deploying the Data Plane (A-SDW-DATPLN) Cisco® Training on Demand course. This course focuses on data plane operation and specifically the WAN edge router configuration for default operation.
The course begins with operational discussions about how routed traffic is processed and how device on boarding is done using Plug and Play and Zero Touch Provisioning. The focus then moves to configuration templates. Since they are used to define the parameters on the WAN edge routers, most of the course focuses on the concepts and use of templates. The course also includes lab demonstrations on adding WAN edge routers to the data center and the branch. The demonstrations not only cover step-by-step instructions on selecting and creating templates, but also include detailed planning examples and best practices.
The course wraps up with discussions on the IOS XE SD-WAN router (converted ISR/ASR), and the vEdge Cloud router. Topics include: descriptions of each router type, when they are best used, and how they are installed and onboarded. There is also a bonus recording of a subject matter expert walking through a step-by-step demonstration of bringing up a vEdge Cloud router on the Enterprise Network Compute System (ENCS) platform.
This course is led by field experts who have extensive practical experience and knowledge on the subject. After spending time with these subject matter experts, you should be able to masterfully articulate the differences between each type of WAN edge router as well as plan and configure WAN edge routers using the vManage and the configuration templates.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
Explain how routed traffic is processed through a WAN edge router
Describe the Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and PnP onboarding processes and when each is used
Create a template plan in preparation for configuring a WAN edge router
Onboard and configure a WAN edge router using vManage configuration templates
List the differences between a vEdge, Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN edge, and vEdge Cloud routers including what platforms are used for each and how they are onboarded
